After about a year and a half since the last one, Apple today announced refreshes for its iMac all-in-one PCs. While they look the same from the outside, they include new CPUs and GPU.
On the CPU side of things, the 21.5-inch iMac is now offered with Intel's eighth-generation chips, including the quad-core Core i5 and the hexa-core Core i7. The 27-inch iMac packs Intel's ninth-gen processors, all the way up to an octa-core Core i9, with Apple promising 2.4 times the performance.
And then there's the new GPUs; for the first time, Apple is offering AMD Radeon Pro Vega graphics, something that it started offering in the MacBook Pro last year. Apple says that it will offer 80% faster graphics on the 21.5-inch iMac and 50% faster graphics on the 27-inch model.

“Customers are going to love the huge boost in iMac performance. With up to 8-core processors and powerful Vega graphics, the iMac lineup is stronger than ever,” said Tom Boger, Apple’s senior director of Mac Product Marketing. “With its stunning Retina display, amazing design, twice the performance, and macOS Mojave that our customers love, iMac is by far the best desktop in the world.”
You can order either of the new iMacs today. The 21.5-inch iMac with Retina 4K display will start at $1,299, while the 27-inch 5K model starts at $1,799. There's also a non-Retina model still that starts at $1,099.
