Project 1: Secure Information Management System
Purpose:
Study the use of certificate, symmetric key cryptography, public key cryptography, and digital signature in an integrated system.
Specification:
Implement the integrated system to fulfill the basic concepts of secure information management system as illustrated in class by using the certificate, symmetric key cryptography, public key cryptography, digital signature and etc. The system separates the user authen
tication and access verification from file server. All user authen
tication and access verification are handled on Key Server. File Servers only process the saving and issuing the encrypted files.
Due date:
Saturday, 03/15/03
Expectations:
Three independent programs are expected: keyserver, fileserver, client.
1. Hand in an envelop of
a. The print out of all the source code;
b. A floppy disk of your source code and executable files with virus free.
2. Demo ready on 03/16:
a. Keyserver and Fileserver are located on one machine and client located on another machine.
b. Student should be able to illustrate using of certificates, and show the system working properly by encrypting, decrypting, signing digital signature and etc.
To achieve 20% extra credit, your program should be located on three machines with good GUI. System should have kind of fault tolerant to deny the file access request wrong certificate or no certificate and handle the ASCII and binary files.
