cument will address how to configure DCOM for use over the Internet and cooperate with firewalls.
Set default authen
tication level to NONE in DCOMCNFG for both server and client.
Make the following changes to the registry:
HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Rpc/Internet
PortsInternetAvailable="Y"
UseInternetPorts="Y"
Ports="3000-4000"
Open port #135 AND the range above on the firewall
Disable IP address translation
Notes:
1) HTTP tunneling for DCOM should be available in NT service pack 4, which is slated for delivery in late June, 1998.
2) Check out the paper by Mike Nelson for more information on using DCOM over the internet with firewalls.
