Attention Internet Explorer 6 Users
And WindowsXP Users
Your browser security settings may be preventing you from receiving credit for offers you complete at Pointsmoney Rewards and other online rewards programs!
While the intentions behind a new privacy feature in Microsoft's Internet Explorer 6 Browser have the right idea in mind, those new settings may block or prevent cookies from being set on sites opened within a frame without the knowledge of the end user (you).
These cookies are vital to tracking responses to the offers that you complete. Pointsmoney never transfers personal information to third party sites without your knowledge and third party sitesdo
not transfer any personal information back to us. Just the unique ID (usually your username) and the amount of the transaction. We use that info to credit your account. If this information is blocked by IE6 (which it isdo
ne by default under certain circumstances), Pointsmoney may not get paid and you WILL NOT receive points for completing the specific offer.
This problem is not unique to the Pointsmoney program. This may occur at many rewards programs, particularly those which open remote sites within a frame.
You should immediately disable this feature in your browser until it becomes more standardized on the Internet and merchant sites are able to setup a Microsoft specified compact privacy policy on their sites (which is not the same thing as simply having a privacy policy).
To disable this feature, select Tools from the menu bar at the top of your Internet Explore Browser, then
select Internet Options and then
select Privacy from the list of available tabs. By default, your privacy settings will look like this:

You should slide the lever to the bottom of the list until it says Accept all cookies as shown here:

Pointsmoney believes privacy initiatives are a great thing, however,do
es not believe that Microsoft should be the sole dictator of those new initiatives and certainly should not be altering the way the Internet functions without a users knowledge. Microsoft has taken the liberty of releasing this new feature and implementing a non standard policy of requiring compact privacy policies on websites in order for existing online mechanisms to continue working online. They did so with very little announcement to those outside of the Microsoft development community. They did not allow any time for implementation. They just began shipping a browser which made these assumptions for you.
Again, as we've said, Pointsmoney is committed to our member's privacy and we like to see initiatives such as these, however, they need to be better published and circulated before being forced onto Internet publishers, and certainly should not alter the way the Internet behaves for end users such as you without at least alerting you to these changes and letting you know their impact.
For most websites, this impact is not significant, however, rewards programs rely very specifically on the ability to track a transaction on third party sites and which user completed that transaction so that you can be properly rewarded for it. Without this mechanism, we may be unable to determine who should get credit for a given sale, registration, visit, or otherwise.
We hope this information will help you not only in the Pointsmoney program, however, in others you participate in as well. We are proactively contacting our merchants and requesting that they comply with the Microsoft dictated standard of compact privacy policies and we will consider this in the future when accepting new merchants. These sort of changes take time and cost money. In the mean time, disabling this new feature will ensure that you receive credit for all offers completed.
Thanks!
